You may have seen a Silver Arts poster in your neighbourhood, but have you ever gone to a Silver Arts event? Not sure what it’s all about? Well, that’s what we’re here for.

Silver Arts is an annual festival organized by the National Arts Council (NAC) dedicated to celebrating seniors and creative aging. Every year, Silver Arts partners with artists and art organisations to bring the arts to the seniors. This can be in the form of workshops, performances or even short films.

Speaking of which, Silver Arts will happen entirely online this year because of the ongoing pandemic, to protect our seniors. From the 1st to the 13th of September, the festival will be conducted on the Silver Arts Facebook page, where there will be programmes in Malay, Tamil, English and Mandarin Dialects.

This year, the National Arts Council is screening 7 short films, of which you can already catch 3!

They are The Drum, by Ler Jiyuan, Rayqal, by Sufjan Sam’an and A Dream I Did Not Dream by K. Rajagopal in collaboration with Dr. Uma Rajan.

The rest of the 4 short films will be screened on the 10th of September, 2pm, on the Silver Arts Facebook page.

Aside from the Silver Shorts, there are concerts, dances, colouring classes with an art therapist and so much more!

So, if you know seniors who may be struggling to pass the time at home, why not let them know about Silver Arts? Show them the NAC’s Facebook page and share with them any of the events you think they will like!
