Popeyes’ Chicken Sandwich Arrives In Singapore Tomorrow!
Fried chicken is universally beloved as a source of comfort food. Every fast food chain, from McDonald’s to Texas Chicken has their own version of the chicken sandwich. Nearly every coffee shop below a HDB block has a Western food stall that sells fried chicken burgers. There are literally books that have been written about the topic.
So it wasn’t really all that surprising when chaos ensued in the United States upon the launch of Popeyes’ Chicken Sandwich. Featuring a thicc piece of fried chicken tucked between brioche buns with some juicy pickles, it caused massive queues, a stabbing in Maryland and several restaurants to run out of chicken sandwiches altogether.
Tomorrow, on the 16th September, Popeyes' Chicken Sandwich will be here in Singapore, 2 days after its launch in Canada. Since it sold out across the whole of the U.S. in just 2 weeks, we wonder how long it’ll take Singaporeans to decimate Popeyes’ Chicken Sandwich inventory. Whatever happens, the Chicken Sandwich will stop being a thing in Singapore come 14th October.
To cater to Singaporean tastebuds, Popeyes Singapore will use chicken thighs for their patties instead of chicken breast. Chicken thighs have more fat content compared to chicken breasts, which makes the meat more tender and gives it more flavour. However, chicken thighs also have less calories compared to chicken breasts, so you know, just enjoy what you eat and try to keep a balanced diet!
