Eat: McDonald's Return To The Delight Of Singaporeans After Almost One Month Of Closure

McDonald's Singapore / Facebook

On 11 April 2020, McDonald's islandwide closed in response to the escalating COVID-19 situation, much to the dismay of almost everyone in Singapore. This was after several McDonald's staff became infected with the novel virus causing the fast-food giant to cease operations in selected outlets, until subsequently all their outlets in Singapore were closed.

It has been a painful 22 days for many Singaporeans. Parents trying to distract their children from demanding for their weekly Mc-treats, and for the rest of us, the disappearance of comfort food such as the all-time popular McSpicy was something hard to swallow. But we made it! Today, McDonald's announced the re-opening of their services on Facebook.

Here's the TL:DR version:

Business will resume from 11 May

From tomorrow, fans of McDonald's will be able to get their hands on the long-awaited fast food from 7am onward.

Selected services only

No dine-in will be available due to the circuit breaker measures still in place. However, you can buy McDonald's via their McDelivery® app, Drive-Thru, takeaway or GrabFood. There will not be 24-hour service and McCafé® counters will remain closed.

Varied operating hours

Restaurants may have different opening hours.

Most restaurants will be open from 7am to 9pm. Some restaurants will have different opening hours, and branches located in parks, tourist attractions and some institutions may be closed. To find out the operating hours and availability of certain branches, please visit their website.

Safety Measures & Contact Tracing

If you are heading to McDonald's for take-away, there will be safety measures such as temperature-taking and safe-distancing guidelines to be followed. All visitors will also be required to complete the SafeEntry registration for contact tracing purposes.

Longer than usual orders

As there will be lesser staff allocated to each branch, waiting time for orders may be slightly longer than usual.

While our nation's favourite past time may be queuing, please do not flock to the nearest McDonald's outlet as COVID-19 is still a real threat to all of us. Let's all work together and make Singapore a safe place for everyone, young or old.

Sit tight and get ready for tomorrow. Are you missing your McSpicy or Fillet-O-Fish yet?
