10 Video & TV Streaming Sites To Binge-Watch Over The Weekends

It’s a fact that most of us are reliant on our streaming sites to satisfy our entertainment choices, whether is it following up with the latest Korean drama, digging up old sitcom gems, or catching up with films directed by our favourite filmmakers.

Binge-watching is now a weekly activity for me, not just with Netflix -which is probably the most popular streaming site in Singapore right now- but also catching on K-dramas, Hollywood movies, American sitcoms and Hong Kong dramas from other sites.

Depending on which you fancy, here are some pretty awesome alternative video streaming service options to serve your couch potato fantasies.

What: Viu is kind of the Asian equivalent to Netflix, especially if we are talking Korean dramas. Lots of Korean dramas (with subtitles) featuring your favourite oppas and noonas. Some of the shows have episodes released weekly, just 8-12 hours after its release in Korea. Apart from K dramas, K-movies and K-variety shows, there are a couple of local, Asian and Thai shows to catch too.

Amazon Prime Video

What: At a much lower price point compared to the other streaming sites, Amazon Prime Video seems like a really good deal. It’s great if you are looking at watching older American shows and sitcoms, as well as award-winning Amazon originals, but it does lack in the variety of options it has to offer compared to its rivals.

Shows: The Office, Parks and Recreation, Fleabag, Marvelous Mrs Maisel

What: You can subscribe to HBO Go without any accounts linked to cable partners. Subscribing to HBO Go also means you’ll have access to stream any of HBO Asia’s slate of channels including HBO, HBO Family, HBO Hits, Cinemax and more. This means, apart from original titles like Game of Thrones and The Handmaid’s Tale, you’ll also get to watch Hollywood blockbusters and Asian titles on the go!

Apple TV+

What: Sure, Apple TV+ may now have an extensive library of shows to offer, it certainly holds up on its own with their own Apple Originals series that have been quite the talk of the town. Big Hollywood A-listers like Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Steve Carell and Jason Mamoa have created original content with the platform, and we believe similar big-production shows will be launched in the near future.

Shows: The Morning Show, See, Oprah’s Book Club, Central Park

JustWatch is not a streaming site for your favourite movies or TV shows, but a search engine to search and sieve through the major streaming sites to give you the most updated information on where your show is streaming and if additional costs are needed. It’s a pretty good site to use for those who just can’t keep track of the shows you have lined up for yourself for the remaining half of the year!
